The borough of Merton, London, is a borough outside Greater London with a population of 197,700 and an area of 37.61km2.
Located in south-west London, affiliated with South London, the zip code begins with SW.
Merton is easily accessible and is the only borough in London with a metro, rail and tram.
Merton has many national railway stations, as well as the Wimbledon branch of the southern and regional lines of the London Underground. There are also several tram stops from Wimbledon to Croydon, New Addington, Elmersende and Beckenham.
History
Merton is an old parish, originally located in Surrey, but has been in London since 1965, Wimbledon to the north, Mitcham to the east, Morden, Chem and Cuddington to the south (the rest of Worcester And Mosper Park) and (new) Malden to the west.
The diocese used and is centered on the 12th-century parish church, St. Mary's Church in Merton Park.
At the end of the 19th century, the diocese was divided, but in 1907 the civic side was transformed into Merton, and in 1965 it was expanded and authorized as The Merton District of London.

Located in the Diocese of Winchester, the building was once an important centre of learning and diplomacy. In 1236, King Henry III convened a parliament in the monastery and passed the Merton Act. This is the first documented regulation in the British Parliament.

The Empire Stadium is a football ground in Mitchham, south London, home to Tootinga and Mitcham United F.C; Chelsea L.F.C. The stadium opened in 2002 with a total capacity of 3,500 people (612 seats).
